Retractable Screens Give Us An Extra Room

December 30, 2009 – 2:27 pm

We often use our garage as a recreation room when our children have company over.  It keeps the noise and dirt out of the house and allows them to enjoy themselves without having the parents looking over their shoulders all the time.  Needless to say the convenience is appreciate by all.   In order to make the room work better we have installed retractable screens that can be lowered when the garage door is open.   During the daylight hours it keeps the garage well lighted without inviting in dust dirt or outside creatures.   At night it keeps the room cool as the outdoors and while the insects are always attracted to the lights they can not get past the screen barrier.

We foresaw a possible problem when we had the retractable screens installed.  What were we going to do when we came home late at night and upon opening the garage door and found the screen in place.  This was simply addressed by getting two of the remote control screen openers.  We always carry one of them in the car and the other is mounted next to the door from garage to house.  No matter where we are when we want to enter the garage the screen opening is only a button push away.
