    The Godfrey Hotel

The Godfrey Hotel beautifully exemplifies the Evolution-Lean-To. The hotel is the latest contender in the race for the biggest and brightest retractable roof attraction with their urban “Roofscape.”  Boasting elegance and glamour, the fourth-floor, 15,000 square-foot event space is Chicago’s largest indoor/outdoor lounge.  Features include a video wall, water elements, a fire pit, and the quintessential Chicago skyline view.

    Origin

“The Godfrey” name, with literal translations from its Germanic origin meaning “god” and “peace,” essentially encompasses the idea the owners had in mind when they designed this modern, upper-upscale boutique hotel in the epicenter of Chicago’s pulsing River North district. With customer service at the center of their focus and an exhaustive list of amenities that put other area hotels to shame, “god-given peace” is perhaps literally the best way to describe a stay at the long-awaited and newly-opened Godfrey Hotel. The Godfrey Hotel uses Stoett’s Evolution Lean-To retractable roof on their fourth-floor urban roofscape.

Oxford Capital Group and operating affiliate Oxford Hotels and Resorts aren’t strangers to popular luxury hotels in Chicago, or indeed, more specifically, the gallery district.  Another Oxford venture can be found in Hotel Felix, just a few steps away, in fact.  In March 2012, OCG acquired the half-finished skeletal construction site sitting in foreclosure-limbo for four years.

According to the Chicago Mag, they saw an opportunity, seized it, and ran with their interior designers all the way to the top position of most anticipated new hotels in Chicago.  Chicago’s first staggered steel truss building is vaguely reminiscent of some of the iconic area bridges designed by local architects Valerio Dewalt Train.  Accordingly, the cubist design is sleek, modern, and definitely uniquely recognizable. The hotel sits on the juncture of West Huron and LaSalle. Conveniently, you will be steps away from attractions such as Navy Pier, The Magnificent Mile, and Millenium Park.

    Discover Your Element

Above all, the inner decor and design pay a beautiful homage to the structural design. The design is highly geometric with warm, deep inviting colors. The decor pairs dark wood and marble floors with brushed metal, modernistic geometric designs, and sleek minimalism.  Boasting large circular light fixtures, floor-to-ceiling windows, and colorful plush seating.  And that’s just in the walk from the front desk to the king-sized suite.

Your trip is not complete without visiting the Urban Roofscape.  Fifteen thousand square feet of the sleek, luxurious hotel dedicated to experiencing the true elements.  Open-air, fire pits, and dazzling water features are all brought together with a modern video wall. There is lounge-worthy comfort seating, and a southern-city horizon view to bringing guests a day-time lounging and meeting area that transitions into a twinkling, urban, late-night experience complete with cocktails.  An awe-worthy venue accommodating everyone, from business or wedding parties to overnight guests.

The Godfrey Hotel’s Use of the Evolution Lean-To

Evolution Lean-To retractable roofs are designed to provide an operable extension to an existing building, giving you the flexibility of an indoor or outdoor living experience in the same area. The operation can be manual or motorized, utilizing SecurTrak™ or rail free TeleGlide™ system for ease of operation. The Evolution Lean-To structure is site-specific with 3 base models to choose from. Additionally, there are extensive door and window options to provide access and ventilation without opening the system.
